The IMU-Family gets MOST-Procreation
Facts
- MOST = Media Oriented System Transport
- The connection to the OEM system happens with an optical fibre
- The interface registers as a MOST member (e.g. TV tuner)
- Communication with the other units by POF (Plastik Optical Fiber)
- An integrated 16 bit A/D converter changes the analog stereo audio signal into digital data packets
- Injection into the optical fibre in real-time and reproduction by the original components
- As known from the IMU CAN interface (item number 1450 and 1451) the IMU MOST also can control the Dietz DVB-T tuner (1490 and 1491) or the BOA DVD player (85700) by the buttons of the original headunit

The MOST data bus ring enables the trouble-free transmission of TV, telephone, navigation, DVD, radio, CD, MP3 etc, in a lot of cars from the luxury and upper middle-class. In times where MP3 and co. heat up the markets, it is impossible for the car-manufacturer to integrate this fast moving electrical equipment into the MOST system. The MOST interface IMU (item 1550) from Audiotechnik Dietz is once more setting standards in the range of adaptation and system integration. This interface makes the connection of additional units like MP3 player, DVB-T tuner, DVD player or any other kind of unit for screen and sound possible. This unit is the connection between the analogue video- and sound-output of the multimedia devices and the MOST optical fibre ring. But IMU can do more: the DVD player (item number 85700) and the DVB-T tuner (1491) can be controlled by the buttons of the original headunit. Thus IMU makes the MOST ring into a trend-suitable system which can be adapted to the current market-situation without a loss of the system-integration.

The MOST data bus ring enables the trouble-free transmission of TV, telephone, navigation, DVD, radio, CD, MP3 etc, in a lot of cars from the luxury and upper middle-class. This system was from the beginning on developed for multimedia use. Therefore it is the ideal medium to bring in the entertainment electronics in the car, because everything people like at home, they also want to have in their car.
After all this euphoria, the disillusion appears soon: in times where MP3 and co. heat up the markets, it is impossible for the car-manufacturer to integrate this fast moving electrical equipment into the MOST system. The development time of a car is much higher than the life time cycle of the
entertainment electronic. In the middle, 3 years pass before a vehicle becomes ready for series-production. But no one knows the trends of the consumer electronics within this time. So what can I do if I have completely changed my CDs into the MP3 format? What can I do if I have stored my
DVD-movies on a HDD? What will happen with the MOST system if the analogue broadcasting will be replaced by the digital one? Will the screen keep dark and silent? Will it not be possible to play my music in the car with a MP3 player?
The MOST interface IMU (item 1550) is answering all these questions. Dietz is once more setting standards in the range of adaptation and system integration. In this case IMU is using the remote control input of the units and translates the commands of the MOST ring. Thus IMU makes the MOST ring into a trend-suitable system which can be adapted to the current market-situation without a loss of the system-integration.
Projected is also an advanced IMU MOST interface, which makes the connection of an Apple iPod into a MOST system (e.g. AUDI A6, A8, Porsche Cayenne) and the control of the iPod by the buttons of the original headunit possible.
